fall tonic

your new fav cold weather drink

Blog Love Recipes

When the leaves start to change and the air gets a bit chillier, you know it’s time to break out your favourite sweaters and enjoy autumn! But let’s not forget the vital part a perfect drink can play! This is why I’m so excited to introduce your new autumn health drink, it’s the perfect way to get through the chilly weather with a little more self-love, patience and compassion for yourself.

There is something so comforting about snuggling up in a warm sweater and a relaxing drink on one of the first cool autumn afternoons of the season. I’m a summer girl through and through and can get chilled easily from the crisp fall day, but I’ve found this drink really does the trick of warming me up. It’s also a pretty healthy tonic (so a win-win in my books).

go on, give it a try!

Ingredients

♥ 1 tbsp freshly grated turmeric and ginger (each)- if you don’t have fresh it’s cool, use 1/2 tsp ground.

3 tbsp or the juice of a full lemon

♥ 1-2 tsp maple syrup (you can opt out of this if you don’t like your drinks sweet)

♥ 1 pinch of cayenne or black pepper

♥ 3 cups filtered water (try a mixture of coconut milk and water for a creamier drink)

Turmeric and ginger are very nourishing spices that can support depression and soothe gastrointestinal distress. They have powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and they can aid in neutralizing toxins.

Using pepper in this drink helps your body absorb and properly use the turmeric, and cayenne pepper has been known to increase our metabolism as well as increase fat burning. The heat that it creates in our bodies is also said to help kill off parasites, reduce pain (or more properly increase our tolerance to pain), and can stimulate digestion.

Instructions

You’re going to want to bring all the ingredients to a simmer over medium to medium-high heat for between 3-5 minutes. Then turn off the heat and strain into your fav go-to mug (if you find it a bit strong, go ahead and add more hot water to dilute it).

You can store any (strained) leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, just reheat on the stovetop until warm.

This nutrient-packed fall-health drink is the perfect companion for a cozy evening in or a productive, rainy afternoon at work.

Whether you’re a single mama looking for some stress relief or just needing a little extra love – this autumn health drink has got you covered by providing a calming effect that will help you find warmth and serenity as you navigate through life’s ups and downs.

So grab your favourite mug and cozy up with an autumn health drink as you go to work on selfcare through the fall.
