Enemas.

The Dreaded Enema?

E…N…E…M…A…S……

No one likes talking about them, but they are actually quite popular (a secret underground kind of popular 😉 ) & have been around for centuries for a good reason.

Toxic build-up in your colon is a big BIG no~no for optimal health, & when you’re detoxing, that’s what your goal is right? Optimal Health. Enemas can really cut down & reduce, sometimes even eliminate detoxing symptoms too, so get on board! (who wants the headaches, fatigue & irritability anyways?)

There are a few different kinds of Enemas.

Retention Enema

A retention enema is called so because you hold it in for between 10-15 minutes.

Coffee enemas are a popular retention enema. To make, simply boil 1 Litre (4 cups) of water. Add 6 tbsp, of course, ground coffee (not instant, not decaf, but good quality organic coffee). Boil that for 5 minutes & let it cool. When it’s cool pour into your Enema Bag a mix of 1/2 cup (250ml) of the coffee mixture with 1 cup (500ml) of pure filtered water.

Before you go ahead with the enema you want to make sure you test the temp, no one wants to burn or freeze any inside parts! While laying there waiting, lay on your right side as that is the side of your liver. You want to make it as easy as possible for your liver to receive all the benefits!

Cleansing Enema

These are called so because they help to literally cleanse & alkaline the colon. A lemon enema is ideal for these. Take the juice of 3 good-sized lemons, and add that to 500ml (1/2 a Litre) of warm clean filtered water. With this enema, it is ideal to give your colon a nice medium-pressure massage. Only hold this particular enema for between 3-6 minutes.

Now that you have your concoction, what do you do? Well, yes, we all know what to do with it, but really. How…. Without getting you all nervous or embarrassed I’m going to direct you to an amazing video here, Jess does a wonderful job of showing you step-by-step the safe way of performing a coffee enema. When done correctly, enemas are a wonderful addition to any detox program you are going on (or a juice cleanse or the master cleanse). They are also a great way to keep & maintain a healthy colon. If you are feeling plugged up & ‘stuck’ try 1 or 2 a week until you feel your health is improving, then you can reduce the number to once a week, dropping it down to a few a month for a realistic maintenance program.

As with any type of cleansing or detoxing it is so important that you increase your water & cut down on caffeine, alcohol and fried foods.
