3 things to do now to prep your skin for summer shorts and tanks

Blog Love Body

I was going to tell you the 5 best ways to prep your skin for this summer’s shorts, tanks (and bikini’s 😉 ) but let’s face it, it’s been a really stressful and loooooong ass few years and I don’t think any of us what to add that many steps to complicate our lives right now!

Sooooo here are 3 simple steps you can add to your daily routine now to see improved skin texture and tone for summer!

Step 1.

dry brush before you shower

Dry brushing decreases the look and texture of cellulite and helps removes dry scaly skin – both of which can make our skin look tired, old and unloved. Dry brushing can also improve your circulation which increases blood flow and helps cell regrowth which in turn promotes healthier looking skin.

To get the most of your dry brushing, buy a brush with a long handle so you can get to all those hard to reach areas. Start at your toes and work up towards your heart in a small circular (clockwise) motion. Move in from your fingers to your heart as well making sure you get places like your elbows and knees (but be gentle with places like your neck and inner legs)!

Please don’t skip rinsing off afterwards (shower is better than bath) you’ve sloghed off a lot of dry skin, you’ll want to get rid of that asap.

step 2.

hydrate hydrate hydrate

Now that you’ve prepped that skin with dry brushing it’s time to love on it with some lux body oils. Hydrating your skin with oils like coconut, sweet almond, rosehip, avocado, and olive are the perfect place to start. All of these different oils have slightly different properties and thus different powers, but imo if you purchase a high quality organic oil it shouldn’t matter which you chose. Take your time and massage it in, your skin is in a state of readiness for all this goodness! If you find scars or dark spots you want to treat (I’m not judging- tiger stripes on a mama is hot), vitamin e or vimtain c oil can help. Don’t miss your knees and elbows!

step 3.

supplement with collagen

Collagen is THE protein responsible for healthy joints and skins elasticity (aka stretchiness). And it’s a must have if you’re seeing a decrease in skin suppleness as well as if you’re over the age of 35 (sorry, but it’s true). Adding another supplement to your routine may not be what you wanted to hear, but it’s one of the easiest ways to up the glow and youthfulness to your skin before summer.

My go-to favs for collagen supplements are all in powder form and easy to add straight in water, a smoothie or your morning coffee!

Niayama Vegan Collagen in Berry flavor (which is 5% off using this link and code TAMARAMARIACA1)

WithinUs Collagen (which you can find available at Costco!!)

and  GoodLife Collagen made from sustainable Vancouver Island fish.

All of these are top quality, locally, (Canadian) woman made products and I 100% guarentee you won’t be disapointed in taste, quality or performance.

These three fairly simple steps can be easily added into your day for only 15 min, so if you’re looking for smoother looking, younger skin in time for the summer sun give these steps a try! And let me know how it all turns out 😉
